Our Companions are experienced travellers, so if your train is delayed or cancelled at the station for example, they know what to do to sort things out. If you have a little time waiting, they can make this time go by quicker by enjoying a hot drink or chatting together some more. Your Companion is there throughout unfamiliar situations so you can feel more comfortable things will work out fine.
If we are supporting them with spending money, we can keep receipts safe if required and help them to spread out their budget – while we want you to enjoy your holiday, if you spend all the money you have the first day then you might not be able to do as much for the rest of the holiday.
If they feel worried or find it difficult to make decisions, know our Companions have time for you. You can let them know any worries and ask questions you are thinking about, and they can help you to narrow down a decision with simple questions. This is at your own pace as they don’t want you to feel rushed into deciding what you want for dinner for example.
We aim to see things from your family members’ perspective, and in the context of the current situation which could feel new or they may feel uncertain about. Your Companion can help you enjoy things as much as possible.
In addition, our Companions are experienced in providing care support and we are registered with the Care Inspectorate – so you can feel reassured will we take care of their support needs. To find out more about being care registered click here for details.

Can I go on holiday with my family member being supported by
your Companion?
Yes of course – this may benefit you both as they may feel more reassured with family there, while your regular caring responsibilities are taken care of by the Holiday Companion. We’ve also supported people with other family members who aren’t their regular caregiver at home, plus for weddings or special occasions.
These may be further away from home and the journey seemed daunting without support, or this can give you all a chance to enjoy time together – with the Companion supporting your family member with medication, outfit changes from formal dress to more comfortable clothes, or driving them back to the hotel to get settled while you enjoy the evening a bit longer.
People have also chosen to visit family throughout the UK or abroad with our
support – this may be staying at the same hotel, visiting a few locations with
car hire, or your Companion meeting you at the family home each day to help you
get ready or go out during the day together.
Can I go on holiday with my friends who also need support?
Absolutely – we have supported friends who like to holiday together many times. Sometimes friends would like to share a twin room, with the Companion staying in a room nearby, or self-catering accommodation like a caravan or lodge with a number of bedrooms.
You may know each other from a local activity club, socialise at a day centre, or spend time together in your spare time. We can put together options based on your shared interests to visit places with your favourite things, or include activities you all enjoy.
We have also supported friends with 2 Holiday Companions – so on some days if you would like to do separate things then meet up again later we can absolutely do this. This is also great if one person would like a relaxing afternoon at the hotel, and someone else would like to visit an attraction – things can be flexible.
